I am interested in buildings —the physical and material challenges and the poetic nature of a space. Architecture can be a rigorous practice of restraint. I appreciate the pauses in dialogue, the humming rhythm at the beginning of the score, and stretches of space between the things that we build. I like to think that the design of a building does not stop at the property boundaries. The distant view of trees and the neighbor’s porch are part of your home, as well as the future inhabitant who will inherit it in one hundred years.
