I am interested in how a space can influence the life of its inhabitants. By looking at things closely and trying to understand the way that each person lives and aspires to live —I find synchronicities. This persuades me that design, although centered around a particular family or individual, is universal. I try to bring this thought to each project, and to design homes to last generations. To be applicable to people of the future although designed for the needs of the present. The invisible workings of a home, ventilation, circulation, energy efficiency, light to illuminate faces, surfaces that weather gracefully, structures built for the natural movements of the ground, these are my favorite parts to consider. I am drawn to spaces that are easy to understand and to maintain, feel permanent and also invite creativity. I am in awe of old world details and appreciate the simplicity of modern design.
